Week 3-4: Sound Design and Instrumentation

– Introduction to Ableton’s built-in instruments and effects
– Creating and editing MIDI patterns
– Basics of synthesis and sampling
– Layering and combining sounds

Week 5-6: Rhythm and Beats

– Introduction to drum racks and beat making
– Creating and editing drum patterns
– Using groove and swing to add feel to your beats
– Advanced rhythm techniques

Week 7-8: Harmony and Melody

– Understanding scales and chord progressions
– Creating melodies and harmonies
– Using MIDI effects to enhance musical ideas
– Tips for writing catchy and memorable music

Week 9-10: Arrangement and Song Structure

– Arranging your music in the arrangement view
– Understanding song structures and transitions
– Creating build-ups and breakdowns
– Automation techniques for dynamic changes

Week 11-12: Mixing and Mastering

– Introduction to mixing: levels, panning, and EQ
– Using compression and reverb effectively
– Finalizing your mix with mastering tools
– Exporting your final track for different platforms

Week 13-14: Creating a Soundtrack for Film

– Understanding the role of music in film
– Techniques for creating background scores
– Syncing music with visual elements
– Practical project: Scoring a short film scene

Week 15: Project Work and Review

– Working on your original soundtrack
– Creating the BGM for the short film project
– Individual feedback and review sessions
– Final touches and preparation for submission

Internship

2 Months Internship Period:

During the internship, students must submit:
– 1 original soundtrack music
– 1 short film BGM
